Power and control killers

Types of Serial killers pt2

In this article, we will discuss Power and Control killers- A power and control killer enjoys watching the suffering, pain, and terror of their victims.
This type of killer is normally an organized one and is often a victim of some type of child abuse that may have left them feeling inadequate and powerless.
The majority of the time they sexually abuse their victims although their actions are not based solely on sexual gratification the abuse and or rape is used to dominate the victim giving the offender another type of gratification.
An infamous example of the power and control killer is Ted Bundy (November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989).
He was arrested in 1978, after having murdered at least 30 women. He would kidnap and sexually assault his victims before brutally murdering them. In 1989, he was put to death by way of the electric chair. Another great example of a power and control killer is Lawrence Sigmund Bittaker (September 27, 1940 – December 13, 2019) and Roy Lewis Norris (February 5, 1948 – February 24, 2020), together were both known as the Tool Box Killers, together they kidnapped, raped, tortured, and killed five teenage girls Bittaker was sentenced to death for five murders on March 24, 1981, but died of natural causes while incarcerated on death row.
Norris accepted a plea bargain and was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after serving 30 years, He too died of natural causes. We hope you enjoyed and learned something from us, please stay tuned the next post will be about Sexually Oriented Killers

What’s in a name? The definition of a serial killer

First, we must try to understand that serial killing itself is not a new phenomenon but goes back to the first historical recordings. Roman Gladiators, executioners of medieval times, and mercenaries nowadays can all technically be classified as serial killers by most of today’s definitions.
What actually defines a serial killer as a serial killer? Well like everything else in the world there is more than one definition, but here at Puff of Madness, we will be going by the definition the FBI uses. According to the FBI, a serial killer (or offender) is someone who commits at least three murders within a month with an emotional cooling-off period in between.
Now that we understand the definition of serial killers let me enlighten you on the different types of killers.
There are many types of killers so many that this will be an ongoing topic here at Puff of madness, one with at least two different types per article I hope you all enjoy just as much as we do.
Let’s get to it, shall we?

Thrill Killers

Types of serial killers pt1

Thrill seeker- this type of offender kills for mostly the thrill alone while trying to outsmart authorities for their own amusement they may be considered either organized or unorganized in their thought processes. Some of these types of offenders like to keep detailed records of their kills or may keep a souvenir. They typically use blunt or sharp weapons and usually rape their victims before killing them. Other types of thrill-seekers can become hedonistic. that is they believe that the most important thing in life is the pursuit of pleasure.
Richard Ramirez (February 29, 1960 – June 7, 2013) who was recorded saying “I love to kill people. I love to watch them die. I would shoot them in the head and they would wiggle and squirm all over the place, and then just stop. Or I would cut them with a knife and watch their faces turn real white. I love all that blood.” or Carl Panzram
June 28, 1891 – September 5, 1930) whose last words were “Hurry it up, you Hoosier bastard! I could kill a dozen men while you’re screwing around!” Are both great examples of Thrill seeker killers.

The Obsession

The obsession with serial killers is at an all-time high. With all the crime shows and channels on the air today and let’s not forget the books, movies, websites, and blogs dedicated to them the once weird macabre interest is now seen at most as just a dark interest. One that many people have not just us here at PuffofMadness but by thousands of others. Here at Puff of madness you will find serial killers categorized by name, gender, and type. We are currently working on transcribing interviews with some and are working on adding a website called Necrogear selling t-shirts with serial killer/ dark humor content.
